Skills Alliance is a growing infrastructure and water technology company seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to support industrial water and wastewater treatment projects across North America. The role involves combining technical engineering expertise, project development, and commercial engagement to support business development, lead early-stage project development, and guide treatment solutions from concept through EPC procurement.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the commercial team during client meetings, presentations, and site visits
- Act as the technical subject matter expert throughout the sales process
- Evaluate customer needs, identify technical risks, and develop practical treatment solutions
- Support commercial negotiations by ensuring technical scope aligns with contractual and business requirements
- Build credibility with both operational stakeholders and executive decision-makers
- Lead early-stage project development activities following commercial agreements
- Coordinate site assessments, data collection efforts, and third-party engineering resources
- Manage project schedules, action items, and stakeholder communications
- Provide regular status updates while ensuring development milestones remain on track
- Develop and evaluate treatment train concepts based on influent characteristics, flow requirements, and discharge objectives
- Assess technical feasibility alongside capital and operating cost considerations
- Prepare design basis documentation and technical packages to support project execution
- Present and defend technical recommendations to customer engineering and operations teams
- Develop and issue EPC bid packages and technical specifications
- Manage bidder communications and review contractor submissions
- Lead technical evaluations and provide recommendations for contractor selection
- Identify scope gaps and commercial risks that could impact project execution
- Maintain accurate project records, milestones, and follow-up activities within CRM and project management platforms
- Track project progress, risks, and deliverables across multiple active opportunities
- Ensure visibility and accountability throughout the development process
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Chemical, Civil, or related Engineering discipline
- Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial water and wastewater treatment
- Demonstrated experience developing treatment solutions from concept through early-stage engineering or pre-FEED/FEL phases
- Experience supporting projects within industrial sectors such as food & beverage, energy, chemicals, manufacturing, or related industries
- Strong understanding of treatment technologies, project development processes, and EPC execution models
- Comfortable engaging directly with customers, participating in site visits, and presenting technical solutions
- Experience using CRM and project management platforms such as HubSpot, ClickUp, Salesforce, Monday.com, or similar tools
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is advantageous but not required
