Collins Aerospace is a leader in technologically advanced solutions for the aerospace and defense industry, and they are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II. This role focuses on the development and improvement of manufacturing processes to enhance quality, efficiency, and production performance, while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Develop and improve manufacturing processes, assembly instructions, workflow routings, labor standards, tooling, machine programming, and fixture designs
- Provide day-to-day technical support to manufacturing by troubleshooting production and process-related issues
- Analyze engineering drawings and product specifications to develop efficient manufacturing methods that meet customer requirements
- Implement engineering changes and support the disposition of non-conforming material through root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time, improve quality, lower costs, and enhance workplace ergonomics using Lean Manufacturing principles
- Design and develop tooling and fixtures that improve manufacturing efficiency, safety, and process reliability
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to resolve manufacturing challenges and support production goals
- Support automation and process optimization initiatives through data-driven decision making and innovative manufacturing solutions
- Interpret technical drawings, GD&T requirements, and CAD models to support process development and new product introductions
- Document manufacturing processes, maintain engineering records, and support audits while ensuring compliance with quality and manufacturing standards
Skills
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field
- Demonstrated professional or educational experience communicating effectively in both English and Spanish (written and verbal)
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Proficiency with CAD solid modeling software and familiarity with 3D printing technologies
- Experience developing manufacturing tooling, fixtures, and production processes
- Knowledge of SMT technologies, manufacturing equipment, and machine programming
