Job description: Provide social services and assistance within the school environment to improve the social and psychological functioning of children

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Demonstrate accurate, up-to-date knowledge of content and Illinois State Standards
• Participate in building level Learning Center team meetings to assist with creating plans for individual students
• Maintain accurate records and prepare reports for legal action
• Provide appropriate IEP related services based on assessed social/emotional needs. Provide professional social work assessments and evaluations as outlined in IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act)
• Identify, coordinate and make referrals to community resources for students, families and school programs
• Provide individual and group counseling with students when appropriate to do so in an educational setting and as time permits
• Maintain social work records; coordinate and document transfer of due process and social work records

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Letters of application
• Recommendations and/or references
• Ability to work as a team member, previous experience with elementary children, and a behavioral specialist background are preferred
• Applicants must hold a Master of Social Work Degree and valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Social Worker endorsement.
• The ability to speak a foreign language is preferred.
• Past experience servicing the specific area will be considered first. If no previous teaching experience in the specific area, recent coursework or student teaching in the subject will be considered.

EVALUATION: As per current collective bargaining agreement

Salary: As per the teacher salary schedule
