Job description: Provide specialized service and support to students for the purpose/s of developing the students? ability to effectively perform courses of study in the English language, assess and encourage student progress and manage the learning environment.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: * Demonstrate accurate, up-to-date knowledge of content and Illinois State Standards

• Design specific learning plan for each assigned student in the bilingual program and ensure that the education program is consistent with the total educational philosophy of the district
• Administer tests and language assessments for the purpose of evaluating students? language ability
• Assess students? progress, expectations, goals, etc. in the bilingual program for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration
• Develop and deliver lesson plans utilizing appropriate instructional techniques
• Design specific learning plans for each assigned student with the anticipated goal of student success in the mainstream classroom
• Communicate effectively wihtin the educational community and with parents on a regular basis
• Collaborate and participate with the building teams rearding individual students in the school

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

• Letters of application
• Recommendations and/or references
• Ability to work as a team member and previous experience with elementary age children is preferred
• Applicants must hold, or be eligible for, a valid Illinois Elementary Teaching Certificate, which includes endorsement in BILINGUAL education
• Applicants must be able to demonstrate Highly Qualified status per No Child Left Behind (NCLB)
• Past experience teaching the specific class will be considered first. If no previous teaching experience in the specific class, recent coursework or student teaching in the subject will be considered.
• The ability to speak a foreign language is preferred
