Responsibilities
Must possess expert-level traditional business analyst skills but are also expected to have proficiency in technical disciplines within data management and/or application development. Responsible for leading businesses in implementing technology solutions in a cost-effective manner by determining the requirements of a project or program, leading or participating in the solutioning and design of requirements implementation and communicating results to/obtaining signoff from stakeholders.
Technical Business Analysts may be assigned by project or technology platform and are expected to participate in every stage of the software development and/or implementation lifecycle, from analysis and design through testing, release, and maintenance while adhering to current Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes.
The ideal candidate is not just a requirement note-taker. Looking for someone who can lead business conversations, clarify ambiguity, structure work clearly in Jira, understand the SDLC, support testing and UAT, and identify data, API, integration, and downstream impacts before they become delivery issues.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or equivalent work experience
5+ years of experience in Information Technology and business/industry
5+ years’ experience working on moderate-to-complex projects or systems
Strong background with requirements gathering and analysis
Ability to translate business and functional requirements into use cases, epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria
Agile/Lean experience, with Waterfall experience preferred
Understanding of SDLC, testing stages, and system delivery
Ability to write and execute test plans and test cases
Experience engaging with developers, business partners, QA, and project stakeholders
SQL experience and ability to support basic data analysis
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to explain technical concepts in business terms
Risk assessment, problem solving, negotiation, and influencing skills
Experience in insurance is preferred

Ability to lead discovery conversations, not just document what is shared
Strong skills clarifying vague, incomplete, or conflicting requirements
Ability to separate the business need from the requested solution
Ability to identify edge cases, assumptions, dependencies, and downstream impacts
Ability to turn business needs into clear, testable, developer-ready requirements
Process, Documentation, and Systems Thinking
Ability to document current-state and future-state processes
Experience creating process flows, swimlanes, decision trees, or workflow documentation
Experience with Confluence or other structured documentation tools
Ability to assess upstream/downstream impacts, including data, reporting, security, permissions, integrations, and operational impacts
Able to organize information into clear decisions, requirements, and next steps
Jira and Backlog Management
Strong Jira experience beyond basic ticket entry
Experience maintaining backlog hygiene and identifying whether a story is ready for development
Ability to use Jira to support delivery tracking, prioritization, dependencies, blockers, and reporting
SDLC, Testing, and Delivery Ownership
Understanding of the full delivery lifecycle from intake through release
Experience supporting refinement, development, testing, UAT, defect triage, release readiness, and production validation
Ability to help business users define UAT scenarios
Ability to document defects clearly with expected results, actual results, and steps to reproduce
Strong follow-through and ownership from requirements through implementation
Salesforce Familiarity, Preferred
Familiarity with Salesforce objects, fields, record types, page layouts, flows, validation rules, permissions, reports, and dashboards
Ability to understand how Salesforce configuration may impact requirements, testing, and delivery
Ability to partner effectively with Salesforce developers and administrators
