HDR is a company dedicated to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for its employee-owners. They are seeking a Structural EIT/Inspector to perform inspections of dams, hydraulic structures, and bridges, as well as assist in the preparation of reports and support design efforts.
Responsibilities
- Participate in local and national dam, hydraulic structure and bridge inspections
- Assist in the preparation of written reports summarizing inspections and findings
- Prepare pre inspection planning tasks including but not limited to site walks, development of health and safety plans, rigging and rescue plans, confined space entry plans, and coordinating with health and safety
- Work in a team environment and independently while challenging yourself to acquire knowledge and experience in engineering
- Support the hydraulic structure design group and other disciplines by applying structural engineering and detailing techniques in the development of structural designs
- Perform other duties as needed
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
- Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RISA, Staad, SAP, Tedds, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar
- Previous structural design experience (internship or full-time work experience) is a plus
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
- Master's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
- 0-2+ years' bridge/structural inspection and design experience preferred
- Enthusiastic individual with a willingness to become certified as a Society of Professional Rope Access Technician (SPRAT) and work at heights
- Must be willing to work with other disciplines (bridge design, roadway design, hydraulic analysis, stream restoration, planning, traffic control) within the office, as necessary, during inspection downtime
- Must possess a valid driver's license and have the ability to travel for multiple night stays during the week
- This position requires physical ability to perform field inspections of in-service dam, spillways, bridge and culvert structures, tunnel structures, highway structures, overhead sign structures, hydraulic structures, and metal traffic signal poles. Physical demands include positioning extension ladders, maneuvering small boats, driving long distances, confined space, air travel, occasionally working at night, and walking long distances on uneven surfaces
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must have good communication skills and be willing to work in multi-disciplinary team environment
