Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the care and tutoring of physically and mentally disabled students, providing personalized support and guidance.
- Develop and implement individualized educational plans, working closely with teachers and other support staff.
- Demonstrate an understanding of developmental disabilities and adapt to the unique needs of each student.
- Utilize Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI, physical restraint) techniques to ensure student safety and well-being.
- Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and other staff members, using verbal and non-verbal communication skills.

Qualifications and Requirements
To be eligible for this role, you must meet one of the following qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, and completion or ability to complete the ParaProfessional Assessment within four (4) months of hire.
- Associate's degree or higher.
- Completion of two years of higher education (at least 48 semester hours) or equivalent.
Additionally, you must:
- Possess an understanding of developmental disabilities.
- Demonstrate proper lifting skills, able to safely lift a minimum of 50 lbs. regularly.
- Show empathy for special needs of disabled children and ability to communicate effectively.
- Be able to work in a fast-paced environment, remaining calm and composed under pressure.
- Possess the physical ability to move around a classroom or playground environment freely and independently.
- Be able to remain outside for 30 minutes at 20 degrees below zero.
