Senior Product Designer — Reimagine a Chat-First Real Estate Platform (Contract, Ongoing Potential) - Contract to Hire

Apply Now
About the work We're building a platform for real estate agents — a product that helps them run their entire business: their clients, deals, listings, follow-up, and daily priorities. We took a strong stance on how it works. Instead of the endless forms and menus that define every real estate CRM, agents talk to the product. It's a conversational, chat-first interface — you tell it what happened, and it handles the rest. The interaction model works. Now we want to elevate how it looks and feels — and we're leaving that vision to you. We're looking for a senior product designer with a real point of view. You'd keep the chat-first interaction — fast, intelligent, conversational, genuinely easy to use — and bring your own design vision to it. We're not handing you a rigid style guide to follow. We care about craft: clarity, thoughtful hierarchy, purposeful motion, and a design that feels modern and premium rather than the cluttered, dated software the real estate industry is known for. The visual direction — including palette, type, and overall style — is open. A strong, well-reasoned point of view on where to take it is exactly what we're looking for. You are A senior product designer with shipped, interaction-heavy product work Someone with a genuine point of view — you make deliberate, opinionated choices and can defend them Focused on usability and craft in equal measure — beautiful and effortless to use Strong in Figma; motion and prototyping sense a plus Available for meaningful daytime overlap with US Eastern time How it starts We begin with one module — a single, self-contained surface. You design that one screen first; it's how we get to know each other's standards and working style. As the relationship proves out, you get access to more of the platform and ongoing design work as we build toward launch and scale beyond it. The first project is a paid, flat-fee trial (roughly one week). We give you the interaction pattern and the problem to solve; you bring the visual direction. We're testing vision, craft, and usability — your take, not a pixel-match of anything that exists. To apply — read carefully (proposals that skip this are ignored): Start your proposal with the word "Northstar." Link your portfolio and point to one interaction-heavy product you designed — tell us what you specifically decided, and why. In one sentence: a software product whose design you think is overrated, and why. We review every proposal that follows all three steps. Looking forward to seeing your work.
