• As a Senior AI Product Builder – FC Automation at ShipBob, you own the full build loop for Automation Product and Strategy — defining how ShipBob’s WMS integrates with automation hardware to lift productivity and quality across the fulfillment network, and shipping the WMS-side product, integrations, and workflows that turn that strategy into operating reality
• You own the full build loop for this domain: discovery, story/specs, AI-augmented prototypes, and production-ready PRs
• This is not the traditional PM role — you are a builder and an automation strategist
• You use the AI development toolchain (e.g. , Claude Code, Driver.ai) to understand ShipBob’s codebase architecture, generate working code against the actual repo, and ship to production with minimum engineering rework
• The minimum technical floor for this role is real: you must read ShipBob’s data model, evaluate AI-generated scaffolding for correctness, identify which manual workflows are ready for automation, and write story/specs precise enough that AI tools can act on them without follow-up questions
• This role is for someone energized by speed, uncomfortable with waste, and who measures success by outcomes shipped — not documents approved
• You will set the automation strategy for your domain — evaluating automation hardware options, deciding which are the right fit for ShipBob, and shipping the WMS integrations, workflows, and operator experience that make them productive on the floor
• As ShipBob embraces new automation technologies, you are the person turning that strategy into measurable productivity and quality gains
• You operate in an AI-native pod alongside an AI Engineer, AI/Prompt Engineer, and Designer
• This role reports to a Director, AI Product Builder
• Own the full product loop independently: AI-augmented discovery → story/spec → prototype → production PR → outcome measurement. You are accountable for the outcome, not just the handoff
• Independently conduct customer discovery and use AI tools to synthesize research across tickets, interviews, behavioral data, and competitive signals
• Demonstrate deep functional and technical knowledge of owned products end-to-end. Independently demo to merchants and partners; understand competitive landscape and key differentiators
• Use AI tools independently to analyze product metrics, identify usage patterns, and surface anomalies. Define success metrics and kill thresholds at spec time without coaching
• Maintain a prioritized automation roadmap ranked by impact × speed. Use AI tools to synthesize competitive intelligence, market trends, emerging warehouse automation capabilities, and customer insight into strategic inputs
• Identify the highest-leverage productivity and quality opportunities in ShipBob’s fulfillment operations. Evaluate automation hardware options, recommend the right strategic fit, and own the WMS-side product work that integrates them into the floor
• Independently evaluate whether a proposed solution fits ShipBob’s architecture without Engineering translation. Understand service boundaries, data structures, and how merchant and partner API usage shapes data contracts
• Independently route changes through prototype-then-PR. Write clear story/specs and review AI-generated code before raising. PR promotion rate improves consistently
• Set experiment hypotheses with explicit kill thresholds. Make day-7 rollout/kill decisions on AI-surfaced data
• Additional duties and responsibilities as necessary
