Job title: Instructional Aide/Special Needs

Job description: The Special Education Paraprofessional works under the direct supervision of the assigned teacher (in the self-contained unit) and the campus principal. Direction will also be given by the Director of
Special Education. The Special Education Paraprofessional works under the direction of the Special Education teacher to provide the instructional program for special education students which is
outlined in the students Individual Education Plan (IEP). The Special Education Paraprofessional will work closely with special education students on a regular basis in an effort to provide them
with the physical help, academic assistance, and emotional support they need to progress toward the accomplishment of their goals and objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS:
TEA certification requirements
No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 Requirements for Paraprofessionals that include one of the
following: local academic assessment - knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading,
writing, and mathematics; or
knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading readiness, writing readiness, and
mathematics readiness, as appropriate
High School Graduate or GED
Ability to work with children with disabilities Ability to manage time and organize work
Ability to communicate with parents
