MBO Partners is seeking an experienced Senior Content & Publishing Strategy Advisor to support executive leadership in evaluating and optimizing a large-scale content and publishing organization. The role focuses on content business performance, working closely with senior leadership to assess content platforms and emerging initiatives while providing strategic recommendations based on data-driven insights.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate content performance across digital, print, video, mobile, and emerging publishing channels
- Assess opportunities to improve audience impact, business performance, operational effectiveness, and content delivery strategies
- Support the development and refinement of enterprise-wide content strategies
- Conduct market and competitive research to identify trends, opportunities, risks, and emerging platforms
- Analyze new content initiatives, partnerships, and distribution opportunities
- Lead strategic research projects focused on content performance, audience behavior, and business outcomes
- Partner with analytics teams to define data requirements and interpret findings
- Synthesize large datasets into actionable insights and recommendations
- Conduct SWOT analyses, trend assessments, and strategic evaluations
- Identify patterns across content portfolios and publishing channels to inform decision-making
- Develop executive-level recommendations and strategic frameworks
- Create polished presentations, business cases, and decision-support materials
- Facilitate discussions with senior stakeholders across editorial, content, business, and operational teams
- Support leadership in evaluating strategic initiatives and organizational priorities
- Translate analytical findings into clear business recommendations
- Partner closely with editors, producers, content leaders, and business stakeholders
- Gather requirements and understand organizational challenges and strategic objectives
- Support cross-functional initiatives related to content development, distribution, and audience engagement
- Help guide teams as new content strategies and operating models are implemented
Skills
- 10+ years of experience in content strategy, publishing strategy, media strategy, digital media, journalism operations, content business management, or related fields
- Experience working within large content-driven organizations, publishers, media companies, news organizations, broadcast networks, or digital content platforms
- Demonstrated ability to conduct strategic analysis and translate findings into executive-level recommendations
- Strong experience presenting insights and recommendations to senior leadership
- Exceptional critical thinking, business analysis, and problem-solving skills
- Advanced proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders and executive leadership teams
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required
