Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Career Group Search is representing a well-established workers’ compensation defense law firm seeking an experienced Legal Assistant. The role involves supporting attorneys by drafting legal documents, maintaining case files, and managing multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Draft, proofread, and prepare legal documents, correspondence, status reports, conference summaries, and settlement documents
- Prepare Pre-Trial Conference Statements, trial exhibits, and hearing/deposition materials
- Maintain and organize attorney files, logs, and case documentation
- Accurately track and bill time according to firm billing procedures
- Coordinate filings and manage workers’ compensation case documentation
- Pull panels and assist with filing processes as needed
- Communicate professionally with attorneys, clients, and internal staff
- Manage multiple assignments in a deadline-driven environment
- Operate office technology including scanners, Adobe Acrobat, cloud-based storage systems, and case management software
Skills
- Prior experience drafting legal documents independently
- Strong understanding of filing procedures and panel requests
- Billing experience required
- Experience within a workers' compensation defense law firm required
- Excellent technical skills and responsiveness are critical
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Adobe Acrobat, Dropbox/shared cloud systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong proofreading, grammar, spelling, and organizational abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment
- 8+ years of California Workers' Compensation Defense experience strongly preferred
- Typing speed of 75+ WPM preferred
- Experience with EAMS and case management software is a plus
