They are seeking a U.S.-based Social Media Freelancer to provide weekend coverage, ensuring the company's social presence remains active and aligned with editorial priorities.
Responsibilities
- Post and manage content across Newsweek’s social media channels (Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok, Bluesky, Threads, WhatsApp, Reddit and LinkedIn)
- Monitor comments and trends; respond appropriately to foster community interaction
- Collaborate with editors to amplify breaking news and trending stories during weekend hours
- Track performance of weekend content and provide insights to the social media team
- Ensure all posts reflect Newsweek’s voice, editorial standards, and visual identity
- Communicate with editorial and digital teams to align social strategy with newsroom priorities
Skills
- Prior experience managing social media accounts for a brand, publication, or organization
- Strong understanding of social platforms, trends, and best practices
- Ability to work independently and make quick editorial judgments
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- Weekend availability is required
- While this is a remote position, the candidate must be US-based
