They are seeking a Finance / Bookkeeper Associate to ensure accurate financial records and efficient financial management, contributing to the organization's mission and programs.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations
- Prepare and review financial reports, statements, and budgets on a regular basis
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulations, and internal financial policies
- Manage the accounts payable process, including verifying invoices, obtaining necessary approvals, and processing payments in a timely manner
- Monitor and manage accounts receivable, ensuring timely invoicing and collections
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies or issues
- Provide support in budget tracking and expense monitoring to ensure financial targets are met
- Process financial transactions
- Maintain proper documentation of financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies and legal requirements
- Assist in the preparation of financial documents for audits and compliance reviews
- Collaborate with program managers to track and analyse project expenditures, ensuring alignment with budgetary guidelines
- Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making processes and provide recommendations to improve financial performance
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and assist in implementing efficient financial practices
- Assist in the preparation of financial presentations and reports for management and board meetings
Skills
- Proven experience in finance, bookkeeping, or accounting roles, preferably in the non-profit sector
- Proficiency in financial management software and accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel)
- Strong understanding of financial principles, budgeting, and accounting practices
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial recordkeeping
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and generate insights
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of non-profit accounting standards and regulations is desirable
