Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. CDC Global Solutions is a leading integrated drug discovery CRO expanding its US commercial footprint. They are seeking a Senior Director of Business Development to build and own the California territory, focusing on identifying and closing new partnerships with biotech and pharma companies.
Responsibilities
- Build and manage a new business pipeline of small molecule drug discovery opportunities across California, with a focus on the Bay Area biotech ecosystem
- Prospect, cold outreach, and network your way into target validation, hit-to-lead, and lead optimisation conversations at emerging and established biotechs
- Represent client at key industry conferences and partnering events
- Work cross-functionally with the scientific and project management teams in Europe to scope proposals and convert opportunities into signed contracts
- Own the full sales cycle from lead generation through to deal close
- Report on pipeline, forecasting, and market intelligence to senior leadership
Skills
- 5+ years of business development experience within a small molecule CRO or CDMO - this is non-negotiable
- An established network across California biotech and pharma, ideally with strong existing relationships in the Bay Area
- A genuine hunter mentality, proven track record of sourcing and closing new logo business, not just managing existing accounts
- Comfortable working with a European HQ and time zone, and confident representing a science-led, reputation-driven CRO in a competitive US market
- A chemistry-related degree is preferred
