About the Role: 988 Chat/Text Specialist
We're seeking a compassionate and skilled 988 Chat/Text Specialist to join our 24/7/365 mental health crisis/suicide prevention team. As a Remote 988 Chat/Text Specialist, you'll play a critical role in providing brief clinical screenings, risk assessments, and service linkage for individuals experiencing emotional distress through the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL), also known as 988.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide telephonic or chat clinical screenings and risk assessments to individuals in crisis.
- Respond to crisis contacts via the chat/text platform, assessing for suicide risk, safety, and identifying community resources to meet individual needs.
- Conduct follow-up calls for individuals deemed moderate to high risk for suicide.
- Maintain ethical and clinical standards in compliance with accreditation requirements.
- Participate in ongoing supervision, training, and team meetings to ensure excellence in service delivery.
- Assist with administrative tasks as needed to support the team.
Essential Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- A Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field, or be a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist.
- Preferred six months to one year of related crisis experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with individuals in crisis via various methods (chat, phone, virtual).
- High-level customer service skills and professional etiquette.
- Knowledge and competency in providing service linkage and referrals for community resources.
- Understanding of suicide assessments and crisis intervention principles.
