Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Profee Pediatric Cardiology Coder with strong surgical coding expertise. This role requires hands-on experience abstracting charts from scratch, coding complex cardiovascular procedures, and applying modifiers accurately. The ideal candidate will have experience in pediatric cardiology within an academic or teaching facility and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Key Responsibilities: • Code professional fee (Profee) charts for pediatric cardiology cases • Abstract charts from scratch and verify provider charges when applicable • Assign diagnosis codes, procedure codes (primarily surgical), and modifiers • Apply knowledge of global surgical periods and modifiers (including Modifier 58) • Review and validate diagnostic cath lab cases and modifiers • Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with payer and regulatory guidelines • Meet productivity expectations (4–5 surgical cases/hour; up to 10/hour for minor procedures) Qualifications: • Must have pediatric cardiology coding experience (required) • Strong Profee coding experience in cardiology and cardiovascular surgeries • Experience coding in an academic/teaching facility • Expertise in major cardiac procedures, including: • CABG, valve repair/replacement, heart transplant • Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD/LVAD) • Additional experience with: • Congenital heart defect repairs • Aortic repairs, myectomy/myotomy • Pacemakers/ICDs, arrhythmia procedures (e.g., Maze) • Minimally invasive/robotic cardiac procedures • Strong understanding of surgical modifiers and global periods • Certification required (AHIMA or AAPC) Additional Details: • Systems: EPIC, 3M (standalone or Codify) • Schedule: • Training: 7am–5pm • Post-training: Flexible M–F hours (between 4am–11pm), option for 4x10s or weekends • Type: Contract-to-hire • Openings: 1 • Start Date: ASAP Training Process (Paid): • Week 1: Intensive review of guidelines and materials • Week 2: Shadowing experienced coder + hands-on training • Week 3: Independent coding with oversight • Week 4: Fully ramped and independent Interview Process: • Interview with Hiring Manager • Quick turnaround decision Perks: • Fully remote opportunity (within approved states) • Structured and supportive training program • Flexible scheduling after training • Exposure to complex, high-level pediatric cardiac cases • Opportunity for full-time conversion • Paid training with hands-on mentorship Addison Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
