We’re looking for a Power System Studies Engineer I to join our T&D Engineering and Consulting Division. This is a remote opportunity to support high-impact projects across the U.S. and Canada. You’ll assist in performing technical studies and developing modeling reports that support power plants, hydroelectric stations, substations, and other large facilities.
What You’ll Do:
Perform studies related to power flow, transient stability, short-circuit, EMT, harmonics, and other transmission, distribution, and generator system applications
Support script development and troubleshooting to streamline and automate study processes
Collaborate with engineers and project leads to define study scope and deliverables
Manage sensitive data per confidentiality agreements and system security protocols
Support project setup and closeout activities alongside project managers and support staff
Track and log study hours; communicate any risks to the timeline or budget in advance
Participate in meetings with stakeholders to troubleshoot, align, and clarify study tasks
Ensure accurate time reporting and support cost recognition and payroll documentation
Provide updates to management on progress, concerns, and workload capacity
The Experience We’re Looking For:
0–3 years of experience in power systems modeling or simulation
Proficient in simulation software and familiar with common engineering tools
Strong Excel skills for creating charts, tables, and technical documentation
Clear verbal and written communication skills in English
Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to follow written or oral instructions
Additional Requirements:
Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or related field
Must successfully complete a background check and pre-employment/random drug tests
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
Must be willing to travel approximately 25% of the time, including overnight travel
Flexibility to work occasional overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed
Bonus Points for:
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
Experience with modeling software such as PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerWorld, or similar tools
Exposure to technical report writing or presentations
Familiarity with power system economics or interconnection studies
