ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Identify English language learner (ELL) students using district criteria.
- Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate instructional programming to meet the needs of ELL students.
- Collaborate with the ELL team on programming, data analysis, and instructional planning.
- Act as a resource for colleagues by modeling instructional strategies, identifying and developing instructional resources, and providing professional development related to the needs of ELL students.
- Communicate effectively with students, administrators, parents, school staff, and members of the school community.
- Fulfill Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) compliance requirements related to this position
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods based on individual student needs.
- Maintain appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
- Keeps accurate and complete records regarding achievement, and attendance as required by the district/building procedures/policies.
- Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and their parents/guardians.
- Ensures that student behavior conforms to the school/district policies and establishes/maintains standards of student conduct needed to achieve an effective learning environment.
- Coordinates with other staff members, participates in faculty meetings, and attends professional development.
- Selects and utilizes appropriate learning materials/instructional tools consistent with district curriculum.
- Bachelors or Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Missouri English for Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) K-12 Certification.
- Knowledge of current English language development teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based on student learning styles.
- Knowledge of curriculum and concepts.
- Ability to use learning software applications as needed.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and their parents/guardians.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Experience working with diverse learners and supporting culturally responsive practices preferred.
- Experience working with students from a variety of cultural, racial, socioeconomic and linguistic backgrounds as well as students from a variety of family structures preferred.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
- Fluency in a language other than English is preferred.
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by the principal(s).
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
