About the Role Our client is a distinguished general contractor with a strong presence in the commercial construction sector, known for tackling challenging and high-profile projects. We are actively seeking a highly experienced and analytical Lead Estimator to join their pre-construction team in Colorado Springs, Colorado . This hybrid role requires a balance of on-site engagement and remote work flexibility. The Lead Estimator will be responsible for developing accurate and competitive bids for a wide range of commercial construction projects, from initial concept through final proposal submission. You will lead a team of estimators, refine estimating processes, and play a critical role in securing new business. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of construction costs, market trends, and project lifecycles, coupled with exceptional leadership and communication skills. Key Responsibilities Lead the preparation and development of detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects of varying complexity and size. Review project plans, specifications, and scope of work to accurately quantify materials, labor, and equipment requirements. Collaborate with project management, design teams, and subcontractors to develop comprehensive bid proposals. Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and accurate takeoffs. Analyze historical cost data and market trends to refine estimating strategies and ensure competitive bidding. Perform constructability reviews and provide value engineering recommendations to enhance project efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Lead and mentor junior estimators, fostering their professional development and ensuring consistent application of estimating standards. Prepare detailed bid packages, proposals, and presentations for client review. Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and post-bid evaluations. Utilize and improve estimating software and tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in construction estimating, with at least 3 years in a lead or supervisory role. Proven track record of successfully estimating a wide variety of commercial construction projects. In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and scheduling. Proficiency with industry-standard estimating software (e.g., Timberline, Accubid, On-Screen Takeoff) and Bluebeam. Strong understanding of contract types, bidding strategies, and risk assessment. Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and specifications. Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing and developing teams. Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and thoroughness.
