Position Overview
The Sandler School of Social Work is seeking a dynamic, full‑time Field Education Coordinator and Instructor to lead the field education component of our BSW and MSW programs. This role begins in August 2024 and will serve as a pivotal bridge between students, community agencies, and faculty, ensuring that every field placement supports rigorous learning outcomes, cultural competence, and professional growth. The position is classified as 12‑month, remote‑ready, with occasional on‑site responsibilities at FAU’s Boca Raton campus.
Key Responsibilities
- Field Coordination & Placement: Recruit, evaluate, and maintain relationships with community agencies; match students to appropriate field sites based on interests, skill level, and program requirements.
- Student Success & Support: Provide timely communication, orientation, and guidance to students throughout the field internship lifecycle; conduct regular check‑ins and problem‑solve placement challenges.
- Curriculum Delivery: Teach field integrative seminars and practice courses for undergraduate and graduate students; develop course syllabi, assignments, and assessment tools that align with CSWE Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (EPAS).
- Compliance & Accreditation: Ensure all field activities meet CSWE standards; maintain meticulous records, generate reports, and collaborate with FAU’s legal office on placement contracts.
- Site Supervision & Training: Conduct virtual and in‑person site visits; organize twice‑yearly supervisory training for agency field instructors; evaluate agency performance and student progress.
- Data Management: Oversee an up‑to‑date database of students, agencies, and placement outcomes; analyze trends to improve placement strategies and inform strategic planning.
- Service & Scholarship: Contribute to departmental service, university committees, and professional organizations; pursue research opportunities related to field education and social work practice.
- Community Engagement: Partner with FAU’s research centers (e.g., Child Welfare Institute, Healthy Aging Academy) to create interdisciplinary field opportunities that enhance student learning.
Essential Qualifications
- Master of Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE‑accredited program.
- Minimum of two years post‑MSW professional experience, including direct practice with vulnerable or at‑risk populations.
- Demonstrated experience in field education administration, higher‑education teaching, or professional trainings.
- Strong organizational and project‑management skills with a track record of coordinating complex placement processes.
- Excellent written and oral communication abilities, including the capacity to mentor first‑generation college students and culturally diverse learners.
Preferred Qualifications & Desirable Attributes
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) credential in the State of Florida or eligibility for licensure.
- Experience teaching both undergraduate (BSW) and graduate (MSW) courses, preferably in online or hybrid formats.
