Job Overview
In this critical role, you will be responsible for supervising a team of drivers and driver assistants, ensuring the efficient coordination of services between our kitchen facilities and drivers, and maintaining control over dock activities. Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure quality production standards are maintained for all accounts, focusing on efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction.
- Obtain control sheets and make assignments for team drivers to flights daily, optimizing routes and schedules for maximum productivity.
- Conduct regular checks of the dock area to ensure employees have the required equipment and that trucks depart according to scheduled times, maintaining smooth operations.
- Verify that all teams are catering to the correct aircraft and flights, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of the operation.
- Enforce compliance with safety procedures and Airport Transport Authority badging requirements, prioritizing the safety of employees and passengers.
- Collaborate with management staff to improve unit performance, suggesting innovations and improvements to existing processes.
- Assist teams with late flights and equipment changes, demonstrating flexibility and problem-solving skills in dynamic situations.
- Maintain radio contact with the Operations Manager, meal planner, and leads during operations, ensuring real-time communication and coordination.
- Conduct regular checks of the kitchen to ensure no equipment is left behind after flights leave, emphasizing accountability and thoroughness.
- Oversee the security and proper transportation of galleys, maintaining the cleanliness of vehicles and adhering to the highest standards of quality and compliance.
- Work with maintenance staff to ensure preventive maintenance of machinery and fleet according to schedules, reporting any issues promptly and efficiently.
- Maintain company policies, procedures, and specification books for airline customers, ensuring all information is up-to-date and readily accessible.
- Prepare management reports as required, including attendance, HAACCP, and labor reports, providing insights that inform strategic decisions.
- Supervise drivers and driver assistants, evaluating performance, coaching, counseling, and preparing corrective actions as necessary, in compliance with applicable union/collective bargaining agreements.
- Manage workflow balancing, dividing responsibilities amongst employees on each shift, including the assignment of responsibilities and workstations, to maximize efficiency and productivity.
- Determine staffing needs, deciding when to call in employees to cover shifts, and ensuring compliance with company Wage & Hour policy, including rest and meal breaks.
- Train and monitor employees on proper work procedures to ensure maximum productivity with minimum labor and food expenses, focusing on continuous improvement and employee development.
Essential and Preferred Qualifications

- A High School Diploma or GED, with an Associate's degree preferred, demonstrating a foundation in education and a commitment to personal development.
- 2+ years of supervisory experience in a high-volume, manufacturing, food production, restaurant, or catering environment, or equivalent experience in a related field, showcasing your ability to lead and manage teams effectively.
- Strong and effective leadership skills, with the ability to successfully manage a staff of 30+ hourly employees, inspiring motivation, and driving results.
