About the Role: Substitute Teacher
We're seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Substitute Teacher to join our team in Jamesburg, NJ. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll have the flexibility to choose your assignments and work on your own schedule. You'll be responsible for providing high-quality instruction and support to students in a variety of educational settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide engaging and effective instruction to students in the absence of the regular teacher
- Follow lesson plans and adapt to the needs of the students and the classroom
- Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment
- Communicate with teachers, administrators, and other school staff as needed
- Participate in online training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge
- Maintain accurate records and submit reports as required
Essential Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
- NJ Substitute Credential
- Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
- Background check and TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this!)
- Full COVID-19 vaccination
- A passion for education and putting students first
- An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a substitute teacher or in a related educational role
- Experience working with diverse student populations, including students with special needs
- Knowledge of trauma-informed teaching practices and classroom management strategies
Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility and willingness to learn and grow
