Essential Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must:
- Be a current Penn State student (undergraduate or graduate) or a student veteran
- Have achieved an A in the course you are applying to tutor or demonstrate evidence of having sufficient knowledge and skills to assist students enrolled in these courses
- Be available to work a minimum of 10 hours per week, with a maximum of 20 hours per week
- Be able to commit to tutoring for at least one academic semester
- Have excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Be able to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds and with varying learning styles
Preferred Qualifications and Requirements
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Previous tutoring or teaching experience, particularly with student veterans
- Knowledge of adult learning theory, educational psychology, and counseling principles
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and with varying learning styles
- Strong organizational, time management, and record-keeping skills
