Position Synopsis
As a Part-Time Statistics Analyst I, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and intelligence of sports data disseminated across various blithequark platforms. Your primary responsibilities will include working with automated data feeds and performing manual data entry to guarantee the delivery of precise and reliable sports statistics. Additionally, you will be expected to contribute to transforming data into compelling storylines and identifying statistical trends that provide insights into team performances.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and intelligence of sports data disseminated by the Details and Data team across various blithequark platforms.
- Work individually and collaboratively to deliver precise statistical breakdowns, clock-and-score, and other metrics and data in real-time that power a multitude of blithequark products and productions.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the Details and Data team's role in fueling blithequark's digital and television products.
- Verify the results of your own work and that of others, consistently demonstrating a high level of attention to detail.
- Contribute to production, operations, and initiatives across the newsroom, supporting newsroom leaders in coordinating full- and part-time staff.
- Anticipate potential issues, both short-term and long-term, and propose feasible solutions, communicating clearly and effectively with stakeholders.
- Play a proactive role in collaborating with stakeholders to develop or refine production processes.
- Actively participate in team and department meetings, seeking and responding to feedback on personal performance.
- Stay informed about current office policies and procedures.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
To succeed in this role, you will need to possess:
- A working knowledge of teams, players, and the rules of various sports.
- Full schedule availability, including evenings (solely), weekends, and holidays.
- The ability to rapidly learn production processes that generate or maintain sports data driving blithequark's digital and television products.
- A high level of content accuracy in time-sensitive production circumstances.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey production issues and opportunities to production managers and colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
While not mandatory, the following qualifications and skills are highly desirable:
- 1+ year of experience working in sports or statistics, preferably in media.
- Knowledge of how sports data is utilized in media and for research purposes.
- Familiarity with blithequark products and productions.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
- Leadership or supervisory experience.
- The ability to speak and write in Spanish.
- Experience using social media in a business or news environment.
Required and Preferred Education
The ideal candidate will have:
