About the Role
As a Live Service QA Test Lead, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the quality assurance of multiple Netflix titles, leading the QA effort for their releases, and ensuring that our games meet the highest standards of quality and user experience. This role requires exceptional testing expertise, project management skills, and a deep understanding of a diverse consumer device universe, with a specific focus on Android and iOS. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, development, and production, to identify and mitigate risks, develop and execute QA strategies, and ensure that our games are thoroughly tested and polished before release.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of QA testers, including internal staff and vendor QA groups, to ensure individual and team excellence
- Coordinate test areas with internal staff and vendor QA groups to ensure comprehensive coverage of all game features and platforms
- Drive test development, estimation, planning, execution, reporting, and closure, ensuring that all testing activities are completed on time and to a high standard
- Project manage and maintain testing schedules for all game titles in your area, ensuring that deadlines are met and quality standards are upheld
- Own and drive requirements gathering and risk identification, working closely with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate potential issues
- Conduct hands-on testing of game functionality across the Android/iOS device universe and other consumer devices, identifying and reporting defects and areas for improvement
- Lead live operations testing as titles release, ensuring that our games are thoroughly tested and polished in a live environment
- Develop and identify appropriate tooling and frameworks to support all testing efforts, staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in QA
- Coach and develop talent across the department, sharing knowledge and expertise to help others grow and improve
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of industry experience in Live Service and Mobile gaming QA, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality games to market
- Minimum 3 years of experience leading test teams, with a strong understanding of team management and leadership principles
- Minimum 3 years of QA project management experience, with a proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Prior experience with mobile games testing, with exceptional iOS/Android testing skills and a deep understanding of mobile device hardware and software
- Demonstrated experience in test planning for complex features and systems, with a strong understanding of testing principles and methodologies
- Expert knowledge of technical requirements, tools, and processes, with a strong understanding of the technical aspects of game development and QA
- Experience translating requirements into effective test cases, with a strong understanding of test design and execution principles
- Proven ability to work both remotely and independently, with a strong ability to self-motivate and manage time effectively
- Passion for games and a commitment to quality, with a strong desire to deliver high-quality games to market and continuously improve the user experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications: PMP, Scrum Master, and/or Product Owner, ISTQB, with a strong understanding of agile development methodologies and principles
- Coding knowledge: XML/HTML, JavaScript, Python, Java, C/C++/C#, SQL, with a strong understanding of programming principles and languages
- PC/Web experience or the ability to learn, with a strong understanding of PC and web-based game development and QA
- Experience with JIRA, TestRail, and TCM tools, with a strong understanding of test management and defect tracking principles
