About Our UX Team and the Role
Our UX team is a dynamic group of design, content, research, and accessibility practitioners and experts who are passionate about improving and innovating our digital experiences for Target's guests, team members, and partners. As a Lead UX Product Designer/Prototyper within our Guest Experience team, you will play a critical role in delivering best-in-class digital shopping experiences for our guests. Your mission will be to design and prototype new experiences that meet the evolving needs of our guests, leveraging your expertise in UX design, product design, and prototyping to drive business results and guest delight.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop high-quality visual, interaction, and motion designs and prototypes for digital and omni-channel experiences and platforms, influencing strategy, investment, collaboration models, and the balance of new vs. iteration.
- Collaborate within UX sprints for discovery, co-creation, future-visioning, and functional proof of concept delivery for emerging experiences in partnership with product, engineering, and other cross-functional peers and leaders.
- Investigate new opportunities using tools that prototype visual design, interactions, motion, and other modes of interaction, including sound, to stay ahead of the curve in digital innovation.
- Align internal stakeholders, accelerate experimentation, and enable the team to innovate more rapidly while scaling UX learnings and best-practices across teams.
- Create deliverables representative of both exploratory and go-to-market design phases, such as wireframes, user flows, UI design, and prototypes, to guide the design process and ensure consistency and quality.
- Guide design process and mentor junior designers to help them grow in their careers and develop their skills in UX design and prototyping.
- Hold design work to a high standard of craft, including accessibility, user research, information architecture, interaction design, visual design, and service design, to ensure that our digital experiences are inclusive and meet the needs of all our guests.
- Advance a culture of human-centered practice within UX, product, and engineering teams to ensure that our designs are grounded in a deep understanding of our guests' needs and behaviors.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- 7+ years of experience as a senior or lead product designer or design technologist with a strong portfolio showcasing successful product and service design work.
- Expert skills in UX, product design, and prototyping, as well as structuring and planning work, and owning the design process.
- Advanced experience working in new product development within large enterprises, including co-creation sprints and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Advanced proficiency in product design and development tools, such as Figma, Principle, Framer, and the ability to write markup and/or develop in HTML, JS, SwiftUI, Jetpack Compose.
- Advanced strategic problem-solving, systems thinking, and collaboration skills, with the ability to balance near-term solutions and long-term vision.
- A proven ability to effectively use data and insights to set direction and communicate approach, and to exhibit a growth mindset in the face of changing priorities and deadlines.
