Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated professional to join our team as an International Freight Forwarding Professional, focusing on ocean product development and strategy implementation. In this role, you will work closely with the Managing Director of Ocean, as well as other stakeholders, to support carrier development, pricing, and service analysis, and to drive sales and operations as an ocean subject matter expert. Your expertise and knowledge will be instrumental in helping us achieve our business objectives and maintain our position as a leader in the industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies to increase ocean volumes, maximize competitiveness, and enhance service quality, in collaboration with the Managing Director of Ocean and other stakeholders
- Support carrier development, pricing, and service analysis, including analyzing carrier performance and routing, and resolving carrier service issues
- Work closely with sales and operations teams to provide ocean subject matter expertise and support, and to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
- Communicate strategies, market conditions, and direction to internal and external stakeholders, including customers, carriers, and global trade lane teams
- Conduct regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon KPIs are being met or exceeded, and provide recommendations for improvement
- Assist in gathering, analyzing, and reporting information regarding performance and competitive activity, and submit reports as required
- Manage annual budget, control, monitor, and report results on a regular basis to achieve budget targets
- Collaborate with marketing to develop external and internal communications specific to the ocean product
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in international freight forwarding, with a minimum of 8 years of experience in the industry, including direct ocean experience in working with ocean contracts, negotiating ocean rates, quoting ocean rates, and analyzing ocean rates and routing. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required, and prior ocean carrier experience is a plus. You should also be familiar with Microsoft Office applications and have excellent communication and presentation skills.
