About the Instructional Aide Position
We are seeking a talented and dedicated Instructional Aide to join our team at United Preparatory Academy - State St. As an Instructional Aide, you will have the unique opportunity to explore the field of education, gain hands-on practice, and receive the training necessary to become a successful full-time classroom teacher. You will work closely with experienced educators, observe best practices in classroom instruction, provide in-house substitute teaching coverage, co-teach with teacher-leaders, and support teachers with tutoring, grading, and individual or small-group instruction.
Key Responsibilities
- Support teachers with lesson planning, instruction, and assessment
- Provide individual or small-group instruction to students who need extra support
- Observe and learn from experienced educators, and implement best practices in classroom instruction
- Co-teach with teacher-leaders and provide in-house substitute teaching coverage
- Assist with tutoring, grading, and other instructional tasks as needed
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
- Use data-driven instructional practices and techniques outlined in Teach Like a Champion 3.0 to improve student outcomes
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A high school diploma/GED and the ability to secure the appropriate teaching permit (Associate's degree preferred)
- Prior experience working in urban schools and/or communities (preferred)
- A strong commitment to using data-driven instructional practices and techniques to improve student outcomes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortability with Google products for effective communication and completion of job responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Experience working with students in an elementary school setting
- Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
- Experience with instructional technology and educational software
- Bilingual or multilingual skills
