Job Overview
As a High School Counselor at CCA, you will play a vital role in providing virtual guidance and support to students, parents, and learning coaches. Your expertise will be instrumental in helping students navigate academic, college, and career planning, as well as addressing social and emotional adjustment issues. You will work closely with our Manager of Counseling Services to develop and implement counseling processes tailored to the unique needs of our high school students.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise students and families on academic, college, and career planning, ensuring they are well-informed and prepared for post-secondary opportunities
- Develop and maintain expertise on high school graduation requirements, including special requirements such as community service, and communicate this information to students, parents, and school administrators
- Assist students and parents with course selection, scheduling, and developing a Four-Year Plan to meet graduation requirements
- Provide support and guidance on social and emotional adjustment issues, implementing programs and services to promote student wellbeing
- Collaborate with school teams to identify and support students who are "at risk" or "in crisis," serving as a point of contact and communicating regularly with them
- Participate in the development of crisis prevention and management plans, serving as a key member of the Student Support Team (MTSS)
- Receive training in Student Assistance Program (SAP) and become an active member of the SAP team
- Participate in 504 and IEP meetings, providing feedback and support for students with special needs
- Stay abreast of state regulations relating to incident reporting and documentation, ensuring compliance and maintaining accurate records
Essential Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Counseling or a related field
- Pennsylvania Counselor certification
- 2 years of relevant work experience in counseling or a related field
- Strong technology skills, particularly with Microsoft Office products
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, families, and colleagues
- Self-motivated, with excellent attention to detail and strong organizational and time-management skills
- High degree of flexibility, with the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years of relevant work experience in counseling or a related field
- SAP Certification (K-12)
- Valid PA Driver's License and appropriate automobile insurance coverage
