About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Sylvan Learning Tutor to join our team in Brookline, MA. As a Sylvan Learning Tutor, you will play a vital role in creating a positive and personalized learning experience for our students. You will be responsible for teaching students according to the design of our Sylvan programs, using our program materials to create balanced and robust learning experiences. Your goal will be to evaluate student progress, communicate this progress to our Center staff, and work together to ensure that learning is personalized for each student.
Key Responsibilities

Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you will need to meet the following essential qualifications:
- A four-year degree or equivalent in a relevant field, such as education, mathematics, or a related discipline
- Minimum of one or two years of teaching or tutoring experience, preferably in a subject area relevant to our programs (e.g., reading, writing, mathematics, test preparation)
- Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension (for reading teachers) or college-level mathematics (for math teachers)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and our Center staff
- A passion for education and a commitment to providing a high-quality learning experience for our students
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Experience working with students of diverse ages, backgrounds, and learning styles
- Knowledge of study strategies for organization, time management, note-taking, test-taking, and goal-setting
- Familiarity with our Sylvan programs and materials, or a willingness to learn and adapt to our approach
- A strong understanding of child development and learning theory, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical and effective way
