Job Summary
As a Bilingual Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with our bilingual teachers and students to provide language support and reinforce learning objectives. This part-time position requires a strong and diverse skillset, including bilingual proficiency in English and Russian or Ukrainian. Key Responsibilities
- Work with assigned students or groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher
- Translate written documents at the request of the bilingual teacher, building principal, ELL Coordinator, or front office personnel
- Serve as an interpreter for parent conferences and telephone calls as needed
- Assist in preparation of instructional materials
- Serve as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher in the absence of the bilingual teacher
- Provide clerical assistance to the bilingual teacher, including filing, record keeping, data entry, and copying
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
Essential Qualifications
- NCLB paraprofessional approval (or exempt with a valid Illinois teaching or substitute certificate)
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Russian or Ukrainian
- Ability to read, write, and speak English and Russian or Ukrainian
- Proficiency in using personal computers and general office equipment
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and organize files, communication, records, and databases
Preferred Qualifications
- 60 semester hours of college-level credit
- Completed paraprofessional training program approved by ISBE or ICCB
- Passed ETS ParaPro assessment (460 or higher)
- Passed WorkKeys assessments (Applied Mathematics-4, Reading for Information-4, Writing/Business Writing-3, and Acceptable on Instructional Support Inventory)

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
