Duneworks AI is building infrastructure that gives enterprises visibility and control over the AI agents operating inside their systems — agent discovery, ownership mapping, and governance guardrails for teams deploying autonomous AI at scale. We're an early team building in the agent-governance space, which is moving fast and needs people who already think in this world.
We're hiring a contractor for a 3-4 month engagement (with possibility of extension based on fit) to help build core backend infrastructure for our product. This is hands-on IC work, not advisory — you'll be shipping real systems from day one.
What you'll do:
— Build backend services for AI agent discovery, ownership mapping, and governance controls
— Work directly with a small founding team — fast decisions, high ownership, minimal process overhead
— Ship incrementally against weekly milestones
What we're looking for:
— 2-7 years of backend development experience (Python or Node.js)
— Hands-on production or substantial project experience with an AI agent framework (LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, or AutoGen) — familiarity from tutorials alone won't be a fit
— Comfortable with contract-based, async-first work and a fixed weekly availability
— Available to start immediately
Engagement details:
— Duration: 3-4 months, contract
— Pay structure: Weekly pay, tied to agreed deliverables. A portion is paid in advance upfront; each week's scope and deliverable are agreed upon by both sides before moving to the next week — this keeps expectations aligned as the work evolves.
Process: Application → short intro call → design exercise → final conversation with the team.
Note: this is early-stage, fast-moving work. If you like structure and long planning cycles, this probably isn't the right fit. If you like building real things quickly with a small team, it might be.
